Read this first if you’re eligible for IBPS RRB
Applications for IBPS RRB (CRP RRBs-XV) close on 21 September 2026. Assam Gramin Vikash Bank coaching has 352 indicative vacancies in this cycle.
If you are a graduate and haven’t applied yet, consider completing your application before the deadline. Choosing a coaching institute is a decision you can make later, but missing a closed application window could mean waiting another year. You can begin your Bank Exam at Home preparation with a structured study plan, online resources, mock tests, and regular practice while deciding which coaching option best suits your needs.
We would rather you apply on time and make the right coaching decision later than miss the opportunity while researching institutes.
options.
The honest answer to “which coaching is best”
Every institute in Assam, including this one, will tell you it is the best. That claim is worth almost nothing, because none of us can be best for every candidate.
What is actually true is that different candidates need different things:
- A first-time aspirant with a weak maths base needs foundation teaching and a room that forces attendance.
- A repeat aspirant who has already cleared prelims twice needs mains strategy and mock analysis, and should not pay for a full classroom course again.
- A working professional needs recorded content and flexible timing more than anything else.
- Someone targeting RBI Grade B specifically may be better served by a large national institute with a deeper specialist bench than by any Assam-based institute, including us.
This guide gives you the 2026 Assam data, the fee benchmarks so you know when you’re being overcharged, and a set of questions to ask any institute before paying. Use them on us too.
Why an Assam aspirant should not follow a Delhi preparation plan
Most banking preparation advice online is written for a national audience, which in practice means the Hindi belt. It misses the single most important strategic fact for candidates in Assam.
You have access to a protected pool that candidates from outside Assam cannot enter.
Regional Rural Bank and SBI clerical recruitment are both state-linked and both carry a local language requirement. For Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, the prescribed languages are Assamese, Bengali and Bodo. A candidate who studied the applicable language at Class VIII level or above in a recognised school or board is treated as proficient. Candidates who are less confident in mathematics can also follow Tips for Non-Math Students to build their numerical skills and approach the exam with greater confidence.Read that again. A requirement that most of India cannot meet is one you probably cleared in school without noticing.
This changes your strategy entirely. For AGVB posts you are not competing against 20 lakh candidates nationally — you are competing against other Assam candidates for a fixed pool of seats. An aspirant who understands this will often target RRB and SBI Clerk first and build toward IBPS PO later, rather than the other way round.
If your coaching institute’s material was written in Lucknow or Delhi, this reasoning is not in it.
What is actually available to Assam candidates right now
| Recruitment | All-India posts | Assam-linked posts | Status as of 7 September 2026 |
| IBPS RRB CRP RRBs-XV (Office Assistant + Officer Scale I/II/III) | 13,706 | 352 via Assam Gramin Vikash Bank | Open — applications close 21 September 2026 |
| SBI Junior Associate (Clerk), regular + special backlog drive | 10,662 | 246 (207 regular + 39 special drive) | Closed 27 and 31 August 2026 |
IBPS RRB exam centres in Assam: Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar and Tezpur for Prelims. Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Silchar for Mains.
A note on the SBI Clerk row. Those 246 Assam vacancies are gone for this cycle. Starting basic pay was ₹26,730 — ₹24,050 plus two advance increments for graduates — on a scale running to ₹64,480. Every year we meet candidates who missed a notification simply because nobody told them it had opened. That has nothing to do with the quality of anyone’s teaching, and it is the most expensive mistake in this entire process.
Whichever institute you choose, ask them how they alert students to new notifications. It is a fair question and it matters more than most people realise.
The bank exams explained: what each one actually is
Most aspirants start preparing before they properly understand what they’re preparing for. That leads to people spending a year on SBI PO when IBPS RRB Office Assistant was the better first target, or missing a notification for an exam they didn’t know existed.
Here is the full landscape, with 2026 cycle details where they’ve been officially announced.

IBPS RRB — Regional Rural Banks (CRP RRBs-XV, 2026)
Why this matters most to you: this is the recruitment with a built-in Assam advantage. Assam Gramin Vikash Bank participates, the local language requirement filters out non-Assam candidates, and postings stay within the state. Candidates who want structured preparation can also consider Online Coaching for Bank Exams for flexible study, mock tests, and regular exam practice.
2026 cycle at a glance:
| Detail | Information |
| Total vacancies (all-India) | 13,706 across 28 Regional Rural Banks |
| Office Assistant (Clerk) share | 8,183 posts |
| Assam Gramin Vikash Bank | 352 indicative posts |
| Applications | 1–21 September 2026 |
| Officer Scale I Prelims | 21 and 22 November 2026 |
| Office Assistant Prelims | 6, 12 and 13 December 2026 |
| Office Assistant Mains | 30 January 2027 |
| Officer Scale II & III single exam | 20 December 2026 |
| Assam exam centres | Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar, Tezpur (Prelims) |
Posts available: Office Assistant (Multipurpose), commonly called RRB Clerk; Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager), commonly called RRB PO; Officer Scale II across specialisations including General Banking, IT, Law, Agriculture, Chartered Accountant, Marketing and Treasury; and Officer Scale III (Senior Manager).
Eligibility: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline. For Officer Scale I, preference is given to degrees in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, or IT. Local language proficiency in Assamese, Bengali or Bodo is essential for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I under AGVB.
Selection: Prelims, then Mains. Office Assistant has no interview — your Mains score decides it. Officer Scale I and II candidates who clear the written stage face a common interview coordinated by the Nodal RRB, NABARD and IBPS.
Note on applications: you may apply for Office Assistant and an officer post, but only one post among Scale I, II and III. Separate applications and separate fees apply to each.
Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer.
IBPS PO — Probationary Officer, public sector banks (CRP PO/MT-XVI, 2026)
The officer-track entry point into eleven participating public sector banks, and one of the most popular banking exams in India.
2026 cycle: The notification was released on 1 July 2026 with 6,715 indicative vacancies — around a 29% jump over the 5,208 posts of the previous cycle. The count was subsequently revised upward as remaining banks reported their numbers. Applications ran 1–21 July, later extended to 26 July. Prelims were held on 22 and 23 August 2026, and the Mains is scheduled for 4 October 2026.
Two significant changes this cycle: the Mains objective paper was revised to 170 questions, and a Personality Test has been added between the Mains and the Interview. If you’re preparing from material written before mid-2026, it does not reflect this structure.
Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline. Age 20–30 as on 1 July 2026. No limit on attempts — you can apply until you cross the age bar.
Selection: Prelims → Mains (objective plus descriptive) → Personality Test → Common Interview → provisional allotment to a bank on merit-cum-preference.
Reality check: IBPS PO is a genuinely competitive exam and postings are all-India. If you are unwilling to relocate outside the Northeast, think carefully about whether this is your first target or your second.
IBPS Clerk — clerical cadre, public sector banks
The most common first exam for new aspirants. Two stages, Prelims and Mains, with no interview — the Mains score alone determines selection.
Sections: English Language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness and Computer Aptitude. Speed matters more here than depth; the questions are not conceptually hard, but the time pressure is severe.
Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline, age generally 20–28. Applications are state-specific and carry a local language requirement, so an Assam candidate applies for Assam-linked vacancies.
SBI Clerk — Junior Associate, State Bank of India
Conducted separately by SBI, not by IBPS. Strong pay for a clerical role and consistently one of the most-applied-for exams in the country.
2026 cycle: SBI issued two notices — a regular recruitment of 9,124 posts (7,680 regular plus 1,444 backlog) and a special backlog drive of 1,538 SC, ST and OBC posts, totalling 10,662 vacancies, of which 246 were for Assam (207 regular, 39 special drive). Application windows closed on 27 and 31 August 2026.
Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline. Age 20–28 as on 1 April 2026. You may apply for only one state or union territory, and must have proficiency in that state’s specified local language.
Selection: Prelims → Mains → Local Language Proficiency Test where applicable. The final merit list is drawn state-wise and category-wise on Mains marks alone; Prelims marks do not carry forward. Candidates whose Class 10 or 12 marksheet shows study of the local language are exempt from the proficiency test.
Pay: Starting basic ₹26,730 — ₹24,050 plus two advance increments for graduates — on a scale running to ₹64,480. Starting gross is roughly ₹46,000 a month at a metro posting including DA and allowances, and somewhat lower elsewhere.
SBI PO — Probationary Officer, State Bank of India
The most competitive mainstream banking exam in India, with a Group Exercise and Interview stage after the Mains. The Mains includes a descriptive English paper.
Realistically, this is not a first-attempt exam for most candidates starting from a weak base. It rewards aspirants who already have strong fundamentals and a year or more of serious practice behind them. Treat it as a target to build toward, not to begin with.
RBI Assistant and RBI Grade B
RBI Assistant follows Prelims → Mains → Language Proficiency Test, with no interview. It is deceptively difficult: the syllabus looks like a clerical exam, but the cut-offs are high and the paper rewards exceptional speed. Age is generally 20–28.
RBI Grade B is a different category of exam altogether. Phase I is a general aptitude screen, but Phase II covers Economic and Social Issues, Finance and Management, and English descriptive writing — subjects that ordinary banking preparation does not touch at all. It needs dedicated, specialist preparation over many months.
We say this plainly: if RBI Grade B is your specific and only target, a large national institute with a dedicated Grade B faculty bench will likely serve you better than any general banking programme, ours included. We’d rather tell you that than take your fee.
Insurance and development banking
Worth knowing about, because these notifications are frequently missed:
- NABARD Grade A and B — development banking, with a syllabus covering agriculture and rural development. A natural fit for candidates from agricultural, veterinary or rural development backgrounds, and highly relevant in Assam.
- LIC AAO and ADO — officer and development officer cadre in the Life Insurance Corporation.
- NIACL AO and Assistant — New India Assurance, the general insurance side.
- SIDBI Grade A and B — small industries development banking.
The syllabus overlap with banking exams is substantial. An aspirant already preparing for IBPS PO can add these with modest extra effort, which effectively multiplies the number of chances available in a single year.
Which exam should an Assam aspirant target first?
Our honest sequencing advice, for a graduate starting fresh:
Start with IBPS RRB Office Assistant and Officer Scale I. The local language requirement gives you a structural advantage, postings stay in Assam, and Office Assistant has no interview stage. This is the highest probability-per-hour target available to you.
Add IBPS Clerk and SBI Clerk in the same cycle. The syllabus overlaps almost completely, so the marginal preparation cost is near zero. Applying to more exams with the same preparation is the single most underrated strategy in this field.
Build toward IBPS PO and SBI PO over the following year. Officer-track exams reward maturity of preparation. Attempting them in year one is fine as practice, but they shouldn’t be your only target.
Add insurance and NABARD notifications as they appear. More attempts, same syllabus.
The mistake we see most often is a capable candidate spending twelve months exclusively on SBI PO, missing three RRB and clerical notifications in the meantime, and ending the year with nothing — not because they weren’t good enough, but because they narrowed too early.
The four kinds of bank coaching available in Assam
We’re deliberately not publishing a ranked list of named institutes with pros and cons. Those lists are almost always paid placements presented as journalism, and you should be suspicious of them wherever you find them — including on our competitors’ blogs.
Here is the more useful version: what each type of option gives you, and what it costs you.
National coaching chains with an Assam branch
Strengths: Standardised material refined across thousands of students, very large mock platforms with genuine all-India ranking, deep specialist faculty for exams like RBI Grade B.
Trade-offs: The curriculum is designed centrally for a national market. AGVB strategy, local language preparation and Assam cut-off patterns are usually absent, because they’re irrelevant to the great majority of the chain’s students. Batch sizes tend to be large and branch faculty can rotate.
Genuinely better for: RBI Grade B, SEBI Grade A, and candidates who want national mock rankings as their benchmark.
Assam-based institutes
Strengths: Faculty who have watched Assam candidates succeed and fail for years and know where local students specifically lose marks — usually English sectional cut-offs and calculation speed. Realistic reading of state cut-offs. Smaller batches, more direct access to teachers.
Trade-offs: Smaller test platforms, so your “rank” may be against a few hundred students rather than a few lakh. Material quality varies widely between institutes here — some is genuinely excellent, some is a photocopy from 2019.
Genuinely better for: IBPS RRB, SBI Clerk, IBPS Clerk and RBI Assistant, where Assam-specific strategy is a real edge.
Online-only platforms and apps
Strengths: Lowest cost by a wide margin, unlimited replays, large question banks. Genuinely excellent if you are self-disciplined.
Trade-offs: No one notices when you stop showing up. Completion rates for self-paced online courses are poor across the entire industry, and that is a fact about human beings rather than about any particular app.
Genuinely better for: Working professionals, repeat aspirants who already know the syllabus, and candidates in districts with no decent local option.
Hybrid — classroom with digital access
Strengths: Attendance and peer pressure from the classroom, revision flexibility from recorded content.
Trade-offs: Higher fee than either alone, and a badly executed hybrid is just an offline class with a dead app bolted on. Ask to see the app before you pay.
Genuinely better for: Most first-time full-time aspirants.
What bank coaching actually costs in Assam
Publishing market fee ranges on our own website is unusual. We think you should have them anyway, because the fastest way to get exploited is to walk into an admission counselling session — ours or anyone’s — with no idea what normal looks like.
| Course type | Typical range in Assam, 2026 |
| Crash course (2–3 months, single exam) | ₹7,000 – ₹12,000 |
| Standard classroom course (6 months, prelims + mains) | ₹18,000 – ₹28,000 |
| Full-year foundation batch (starting from a weak base) | ₹28,000 – ₹40,000 |
| Online-only course with test series | ₹3,000 – ₹10,000 |
| Standalone mock test series | ₹500 – ₹1,500 |
Two rules for using this table.
If a quoted fee sits well above these ranges, ask exactly what justifies it and don’t accept “brand” as an answer.
If a fee sits far below the range, that usually means a very large batch, rotating junior faculty, or both. Cheap coaching is often the most expensive kind, because a wasted year costs more than the ₹10,000 you saved.
Our own fee structure is discussed openly in the free counselling session, with instalment options available. If it doesn’t suit your budget we will tell you which parts of the programme you actually need and which you can skip.
Nine questions to ask any institute before you pay
Take these to every admission desk in Guwahati. Take them to ours. An institute that gets uncomfortable at question 4 or 7 has answered you.
1. How many students will be in my specific batch? Not the room’s capacity — the enrolled number for the batch starting on the date you’d join.
2. Who teaches Quant, and will they still be teaching in month five? Mid-course faculty churn is the most common complaint in this industry in every city in India.
3. Can I sit through a full class before paying? Any institute confident in its teaching will allow this. A refusal is a complete answer. (You can also simply watch. Full classroom sessions from our RBI Assistant Quant and Reasoning batches are on our YouTube channel, unedited. Judge the teaching before you ever contact us.)
4. Can you show me results tied to verifiable candidates, not just photographs? Every institute in India advertises impressive selection numbers. Very few will connect them to named candidates, roll numbers or appointment letters when asked directly. Ask anyway — the response tells you a great deal about how an institute operates.
5. How many full-length mocks are included, and are they in CBT format? The real exam is computer-based with negative marking — 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer in IBPS RRB. Practising on paper builds the wrong reflexes.
6. Do I get analysis after mocks, or only a score? A score tells you that you failed. An analysis tells you that you spent eleven minutes on a puzzle set you should have abandoned in forty seconds. Only one of those changes your result.
7. What is the refund policy, in writing? Ask before payment, not after.
8. Do you cover local language proficiency and mains descriptive writing? For AGVB and SBI clerical roles this is not optional. A surprising number of institutes skip it because their material was written for a national market.
9. How will I know when a notification opens? Given that one missed window costs a full cycle, this deserves a specific answer.
Who should not join a coaching institute at all
A guide that never tells you to keep your money isn’t a guide.
If you’re a repeat aspirant who has already cleared prelims, you do not have a syllabus problem. You have a mains-strategy or interview problem. Buy a strong test series and mains-focused mentoring instead of sitting through basic concepts for a third time. We will say this to your face in counselling rather than sell you a full course.
If you can’t attend regularly, a classroom fee is a donation. Choose recorded or hybrid honestly rather than aspirationally.
If you haven’t tried three weeks of structured self-study, try that first. Take a free mock, study alone for 21 days, and see what happens. If you held the routine, you may only need good material and a mock series — a few thousand rupees rather than thirty. If you didn’t, you now know precisely what you’re paying an institute to fix, which makes you a far better judge of which one to choose.
The honest case for coaching was never that the syllabus is unlearnable alone. It’s that most people cannot sustain nine months of solitary preparation, and structure, peers and external deadlines solve that. That is a real thing to buy. It just isn’t what usually gets advertised.
A realistic timeline for an Assam aspirant
For a graduate starting from a weak-to-moderate base:
Months 1–3, foundation. Arithmetic fundamentals, English grammar, basic reasoning. One diagnostic mock and no more. The most common error at this stage is starting full mocks early, scoring 30, and concluding you aren’t capable of this. You are — you’re three months too early.
Months 4–6, speed and pattern. Advanced DI, puzzles, seating arrangement, sectional timing. Weekly sectional tests begin. This is where nearly everyone plateaus, and where having someone diagnose why is worth actual money.
Months 7–9, simulation. Full-length CBT mocks twice a week under real conditions. The focus shifts almost entirely from learning to question selection — deciding within seconds what to leave. Local language and descriptive preparation is added for AGVB and SBI clerical targets.
Every day, throughout: General Awareness. Twenty minutes from month one. It is the cheapest section in the mains paper and the one everyone postpones until the habit can no longer be built.
Where Majestic Academy fits — and where it doesn’t
Apply the nine questions above to what follows.
We are built for the Assam-domiciled aspirant targeting IBPS RRB, SBI Clerk, IBPS Clerk, RBI Assistant, IBPS PO and SBI PO, who wants strategy built around Assam’s recruitment reality rather than a nationally standardised syllabus.
Four centres, chosen for where aspirants actually live: Guwahati (DS Mansion, opposite the Indian Oil pump near Assam State Zoo), Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Kokrajhar. Two of those sit in IBPS RRB exam centre cities. Our Kokrajhar centre serves the Bodo-speaking belt directly — and Bodo is one of the three languages that satisfies the AGVB proficiency requirement. That is not a coincidence, and it is not something a Delhi-designed curriculum accounts for.
Hybrid by default. Classroom coaching, live online classes, recorded lectures and app-based learning, so a student in Jorhat or Tezpur can prepare without relocating to Guwahati.
100+ mock tests including All India Test Series, sectional and chapter-wise tests, and weekly assessments with performance analysis.
Watch before you enquire. Full unedited classroom sessions are on our YouTube channel. We would rather you judge the teaching yourself than take our word for it.
Free counselling before enrolment, in which we assess where you’re actually starting from and tell you which programme fits — including telling you that you don’t need one, when that’s true.
Where we are not the right choice. If you’re targeting RBI Grade B or SEBI Grade A specifically, a large national institute with a deeper specialist faculty bench will likely serve you better, and we’ll tell you so if you ask. If you’re an experienced repeat aspirant who only needs mains-level practice, take the test series and skip the classroom fee.

Frequently asked questions
Which is the best bank coaching institute in Assam? No institute is best for every candidate. For all-India exams such as RBI Grade B and SEBI Grade A, large national institutes with deep specialist faculty have a real advantage. For IBPS RRB, SBI Clerk, IBPS Clerk and RBI Assistant, Assam-based institutes with local strategy and language coverage generally serve candidates better. Judge any institute on batch size, faculty stability, verifiable results and the quality of mock analysis rather than on advertising.
How many bank vacancies are open for Assam candidates in 2026? Assam Gramin Vikash Bank has 352 indicative vacancies under IBPS RRB CRP RRBs-XV, with applications open until 21 September 2026. SBI announced 246 Junior Associate vacancies for Assam across its regular and special backlog notices, but those windows closed in late August 2026.
Is Assamese compulsory for bank jobs in Assam? For Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, proficiency in Assamese, Bengali or Bodo is an essential qualification for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I posts. Studying the language at Class VIII level or higher in a recognised school or board counts as proficiency. A selected candidate who doesn’t meet the condition at selection may be allowed six months from joining to acquire it, subject to the bank’s rules. SBI clerical recruitment carries a similar local language requirement, with candidates exempted if their Class 10 or 12 marksheet shows study of the language.
How much does bank coaching cost in Guwahati? A standard six-month classroom course generally runs ₹18,000–₹28,000 in Assam. Crash courses run ₹7,000–₹12,000, full-year foundation batches ₹28,000–₹40,000, and online-only courses ₹3,000–₹10,000. Majestic Academy discusses its own fee structure and instalment options openly in the free counselling session.
Can I clear a bank exam without coaching? Yes, and many people do. The syllabus is entirely learnable from books and free material. What coaching adds is structure, diagnosis and accountability. Test yourself with three weeks of disciplined self-study before deciding — if you sustain it, you may need only good material and a mock test series.
How long does bank exam preparation take? Roughly 9 to 12 months from a weak base, 4 to 6 months if your fundamentals are solid, and 2 to 3 months for a repeat aspirant who has cleared prelims before and needs mains-specific work.
Is there negative marking in bank exams? Yes. IBPS RRB deducts 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. This is why knowing what to skip matters as much as knowing how to solve.
Where are the IBPS RRB exam centres in Assam? Prelims are held at Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar and Tezpur. Mains and single-exam centres are Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Silchar.
Can I prepare for bank exams from outside Guwahati? Yes. Majestic Academy has centres in Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Kokrajhar alongside Guwahati, and runs live online classes with recorded lectures and app access for students anywhere in Assam and the Northeast.
What is the difference between IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk and IBPS RRB? IBPS PO recruits Probationary Officers for public sector banks with all-India postings and includes an interview. IBPS Clerk recruits clerical staff for the same banks, is state-linked and has no interview. IBPS RRB recruits for Regional Rural Banks — Office Assistant and Officer Scale I, II and III — with postings confined to the state of the participating RRB and a local language requirement. For Assam candidates, IBPS RRB usually offers the best probability of selection.
When is the IBPS RRB 2026 exam? Officer Scale I Prelims are on 21 and 22 November 2026. Office Assistant Prelims are on 6, 12 and 13 December 2026, with Mains on 30 January 2027. The Officer Scale II and III single examination is on 20 December 2026.
Is there an interview for IBPS RRB Office Assistant? No. Selection for Office Assistant is based on the Mains score, followed by verification of eligibility and local language proficiency. Officer Scale I and II candidates do face a common interview.
What is the SBI Clerk salary? Starting basic pay is ₹26,730, comprising ₹24,050 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates, on a scale extending to ₹64,480. Starting gross emoluments are around ₹46,000 per month at a metro posting including DA and allowances, and somewhat lower at other locations.
What has changed in IBPS PO 2026? Two things. The Mains objective paper was revised to 170 questions, and a Personality Test has been added between the Mains and the Interview. Preparation material published before mid-2026 does not reflect this structure.
Can I apply for more than one IBPS RRB post? You may apply for Office Assistant and for an officer post, but only one post among Officer Scale I, II and III. Each application requires a separate form and separate fee.
Which bank exam is easiest to clear? For an Assam-domiciled candidate, IBPS RRB Office Assistant generally offers the highest probability — moderate difficulty, no interview stage, and a candidate pool restricted by the local language requirement. “Easiest” still means months of serious preparation.
Is online coaching as effective as classroom coaching? For self-disciplined candidates, the content quality is equal and the cost far lower. For candidates who struggle to hold a routine alone, completion rates for self-paced online courses are poor across the industry. Choose based on an honest assessment of your own consistency, not on which sounds more convenient.
